WokWraps owner Jamie Burgis, of Felixstowe, opens new Chinese fusion eatery in Mildenhall Market Place
The owner of a popular Chinese fusion eatery has said ‘it doesn’t quite feel real’ after opening his new shop in a town centre.
Jamie Burgis, 25, of Felixstowe, is now welcoming customers to his second WokWraps store at 21 Market Place in Mildenhall.
The shop has undergone major renovations and rebranding in the last few months since Jamie revealed in November that WokWraps would be coming to the town.
Jamie, who launched his business in July 2023, opened his first shop in Beach Street, Felixstowe, in December later that year, and it has grown in popularity.
The Mildenhall premises is able to seat 16 people inside and will be managed by Jamie’s sister Chloe Baker, 29, who lives in Lakenheath, with Jamie set to work at the shop for the first six months.
He said: “It feels a bit crazy and it just doesn’t quite feel real right now to be honest.
“We’ve had really good support from the local community which has been really nice and it’s made us feel very welcome in a new area.
“We’re surrounded by takeaway outlets and we’re right in the town centre which is great too.”
The siblings also thanked George Morris, who has developed and worked on the shop since November.
Jamie moved from Bury St Edmunds to Felixstowe to focus on WokWraps and previously worked as manager of Chinese takeaway Top Garden in Bury town centre.
His experience of preparing food in the kitchen and working alongside the chefs, is what helped him combine the flavours for his set of wraps.
He then kicked off his business by selling WokWraps at the town markets with his mum Julie.
The Mildenhall store will be open noon to 8pm from Wednesday to Sunday.
Some of the food options on offer include rice bowls, wraps and box meals, with the business enjoying a speciality in salt and pepper chicken and seasoning.
