Volunteers help plant 5000 daffodil bulbs around the Jubilee Fields in Mildenhall to help ‘bring colour’ to town

A group of volunteers have come together and planted around 5000 daffodil bulbs to help bring colour to a Suffolk town.

The community project was organised by West Suffolk Cllr Ian Shipp with the support of Cllr Andy Neal and people of all ages congregated to plant the bulbs around the Jubilee Fields in Mildenhall.

Mildenhall in Bloom are a group of volunteers dedicated to bringing colour to the town and were supplied the thousands of bulbs by Mildenhall High Town Council.

Cllr Shipp, who lives in the town and is a member of Mildenhall in Bloom, said: “I was delighted with the turnout of volunteers with people from four years old to 74 years old chipping in.

“Not only did we manage to make light work of a potentially challenging task but we had some good fun.

“We will continue to work with partners in the future and we have plans for many more opportunities for those interested in bringing some colour to Mildenhall.”

Cllr Neal added: “It was a great effort by all involved and not only will it bring spectacular colour to the fields next spring but it’s another project completed which is very dear to my heart.

“It is great community work for all to enjoy and a huge well done to everyone that was involved.”
