Mildenhall Hub opening dates are announced

The opening dates for the new multi-million-pound Mildenhall Hub have been confirmed as construction work on the £39million project nears completion.

The Sheldrick Way hub is to offer services such as a school, health centre, children’s centre and job centre as well as office space for the NHS, police, Suffolk County Council and West Suffolk Council.

Following more clarity about construction on the site and the Government’s road map, greater certainty can be given to the announced rolling programme of opening,which Suffolk News revealed in March was due to start from May 24.

Mildenhall College Academy will move from Bury Road and welcome students to the new facility on June 14.

The new Mildenhall Library within the hub will on June 1, the gym, fitness studios and 3G pitch are also scheduled to open on the same day with the pools and sports hall aiming to open during the following week.

Other facilities in the Hub will then open in a rolling programme over the rest of the summer.

A spokesperson for R G Carter said: “We are proud of the way in which our supply chain partners continue to work under strict Covid restrictions.

"The Hub is nearing completion with zero Covid cases reported during the whole construction process and we look forward to the public having access to the wonderful facilities that the Hub will provide the local community.”
