Brandon man shot in the leg outside of home as another is arrested on suspicion of firearms offences




Police have made an arrest after a man was shot in the leg outside his home in Brandon.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which took place at a property in the High Street between 10.30pm and 11pm on Monday.

The victim, a man in his 40s, called police the following day to report he had suffered a leg injury after being shot with a firearm, thought to be a shotgun.

His injury is described as minor and did not require hospital treatment.

A 36-year-old man was arrested for firearms offences in connection with the incident and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre, where he remains.

Police have conducted a search at a property in Riverside Way, Brandon, and seized a number of firearms and ammunition from the address.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Constabulary said: "Detectives understand the victim and suspect are known to each other and that this was a contained incident with no wider threat to the community."
