Mildenhall A-level results 2023: Staff and students at Mildenhall College Academy delighted and breathe sighs of relief after receiving grades




Students and staff at Mildenhall College Academy were delighted and breathed sighs of relief this morning as they showed hard work pays off after receiving impressive A-level grades.

At the academy, 55 per cent of all grades were at A*-C and 94 per cent were at A*-E.

The school’s cohort of 88 students were the first year group to not sit GCSE exams and instead were awarded teacher-assessed grades during the pandemic.

One student who felt ‘terrified’ this morning was Harvey Alecock, who was delighted when he opened his results and saw he had achieved As in biology, chemistry, maths and his EPQ.

The 18-year-old said he was ‘very relieved’ and is now looking forward to studying medicine at Keele University near Stoke.

Ellie Prickett, 18, was ‘really happy’ after getting As in English and sociology and a C in history, and is now going on a gap year before studying law in Nottingham next year.

Another student that stood out was Alexander Endean who achieved three A* grades in English, psychology and criminology with a D grade in Music and is off to study at St Andrews in September.

After achieving distinction*, distinction, distinction in Sport Studies, Max Hunt, who lives in Lakenheath, is going on to employment in the sports industry.

Breanna Poolton is ‘very happy’ after securing the grades she needed to get into the University of East Anglia where she will be studying psychology.

Rhys Sulman will be going to Wolverhampton University to study paramedic science after achieving a merit in health and social care.

Nicola Hood, principal at the academy, said: “I am really proud of all of our students and their achievements especially in light of the fact that they did not sit GCSE examinations and so their first experience of terminal examinations has been at a very high level.

“As a cohort of students they have been an absolute pleasure to teach and a credit to the academy.

“I would like to thank the teachers and support staff who have done a great job at teaching and supporting students throughout sixth form and their entire time at Mildenhall College Academy. It is testament to the great culture and team ethos in the academy.

“I wish all of our students the very best in their future endeavours.”
