New banking hub operated by Cash Access UK to open in Mildenhall in February while search for permanent location continues
A new temporary banking hub is set to open in a Suffolk town while the search for a permanent location continues.
The hub, operated by Cash Access UK, will be running its services at The Pavilion, in Recreation Way, Mildenhall, and is expected to launch in February.
It follows the loss of banks Lloyds and Barclays in Mildenhall over the last few years.
Counter services at the hub include withdrawing and depositing cash, depositing cheques, paying utility bills, checking your account balance and collecting change for registered business customers.
The hub is managed by the Post Office, but it is not a full-service branch so members of the public cannot send parcels or buy stamps at the hub.
Community bankers, who help with more complicated issues, work on rotation at the hub with a different bank available on each weekday.
The community banker rotation is still to be confirmed.
The first permanent banking hub in Suffolk was recently introduced in Haverhill, with more planned in Hadleigh, Leiston and Woodbridge.
Cat Farrow, chief customer and strategy officer at Cash Access UK, said: "We're really pleased to confirm the banking hub in Mildenhall will be opening early next year.
“It will provide important services for the community and we will be sharing further details soon.
“We're happy that The Pavilion will be the home for the Mildenhall hub while we continue to look for a permanent location.”
