New B&M in St Andrew’s Street, Mildenhall, at former site of Wilko, to open on April 6
A new discount store will open in a Suffolk town in April at the former site of a Wilko, it has been confirmed.
B&M will welcome customers to its new premises in St Andrew’s Street, Mildenhall, on April 6.
The 13,000sqft industrial unit will be significantly refurbished by its new operators, creating 50 jobs.
B&M Retail Ltd submitted a premises licence application earlier this month.
New staff were asked to nominate a charity to support for the opening, with the King’s Project Food Bank chosen.
A spokesperson for B&M said: “We’re feeling extremely positive about the creation of more jobs. We hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.
“King’s Project Food Bank really stood out for us, so we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work that they have done.”
The food bank was created and managed by King’s Church in the town as a community support facility, helping those in need with emergency food supplies.
The official opening will take place at 8am.
