Plans approved for Barton Mills Service Station extension at Fiveways Roundabout, near Mildenhall, which could allow for first Pret A Manger in Suffolk

Approval has been granted for a planned extension at a service station on a major route to potentially allow for a Pret A Manger.

Motor Fuel Group Ltd has won planning permission for the single storey extension at the back of the Barton Mills Service Station, near Mildenhall.

A West Suffolk Council report on the proposals said the extension would create a new walk-in cold room and storage space.

A design and access statement to the authority said the extension would contain a back of house store for the station’s existing food to go offer, which is a Subway and Londis forecourt shop.

A building plan showed space for a Pret A Manger, which would be the first in Suffolk.

The council approved the proposal today.
