Freedom Foods Pantry, based in West Row, near Mildenhall, closes after six months
A charity that aimed to relieve poverty and help people in need has announced its closure after six months.
Freedom Foods Pantry, based in Hawthorn Walk, West Row, near Mildenhall, started its journey in November 2024.
However, the founders, Jodie and Craig Robinson, have now shut their stall with all their leftover stock to be donated to food banks in the area.
The charity aimed to collect food that was too good to waste and make accessible to people in the community who needed it most.
Mrs Robinson said on social media: “Our circumstances have suddenly changed and we have had to put some thought into what to do with Freedom Foods Pantry.
“We have decided to close the stall and will not be open again and there will be no more food parcels.
“Thank you for all your support over the last six months but sadly this is something we are unable to continue doing. We will have a think and try to do something in the future.
Mrs Robinson added: “We have been unhappy with the food we were providing as we were getting much more unhealthy options for people, rather than fruit and vegetables.
“Even though people enjoyed the sweet treats, I don't think we were doing a good thing by providing so much of this.
“So when our circumstances suddenly changed this felt like the right choice for us.”
