The Corner Stores Costcutter in Brandon Road, Mildenhall, seeks permission to sell alcohol until 2am

A town shop is seeking permission to sell alcohol until 2am on four days of the week.

If West Suffolk Council give the go-ahead, The Corner Stores in Mildenhall would be allowed to sell alcohol until 2am between Thursday and Sunday every week.

A spokesperson for the Brandon Road store said an ‘increased customer demand’ has led to them seeking a change to their licence.

"Due to a forthcoming major refurbishment of the premises, we would like to serve an amended and updated plan of the premises on the licensing authority," a spokesperson said.

They added that a new home delivery service will be introduced as part of the changes.

The store would open from 5am until 10pm from Monday to Wednesday.

The application from The Corner Stores comes after West Suffolk Council approved plans in August for an extension to the back and side of the shop.

Renovations at the store started earlier this month and the work is expected to continue until January, with the store open as usual throughout.

Craig Warren runs The Corner Stores with his sister Tina. His family have owned the store since 1987.
