Two taken to hospital after bungalow fire in Woodlands, Lakenheath




Two people have been taken to hospital after a bungalow fire in Lakenheath this morning.

Firefighters were called to Woodlands, off of Station Road, at about 7.13am to reports of the blaze, which engulfed the majority of the building.

A fire service spokesman said paramedics had taken two people to hospital, with one of them treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

He added that crews were making 'good progress' in tackling the fire at about 8.30am, and they were removing roof tiles to reach hotspots.

The teams, from Methwold, Thetford, Brandon and Mildenhall, started leaving the scene at 9.17am as they got the fire under control.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "An ambulance and senior paramedic in a support vehicle attended a house fire in Lakenheath just before 7.45am today.

"An adult man was transported to the West Suffolk Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
