Cause of China Chef roof fire in Station Yard, Needham Market, confirmed
The cause of a fire at a takeaway which saw a man taken to hospital with burn injuries has been confirmed.
Firefighters were called to the blaze at China Chef in Station Yard, Needham Market, at 5.54am yesterday.
The fire tore through the roof and four fire engines and an aerial appliance were deployed to extinguish the flames.
A fire inspector has confirmed the most probable cause of the fire was a cooling desk fan which overheated and was in close proximity to combustible materials.
A man suffered burns to his face, arms and feet and was taken to to Ipswich Hospital for further care.
However, in an update on social media, China Chef confirmed he is now back home and feeling ‘generally great’.
The post said: “I just want to say thank you to all to Needham community for being there for us in a such terrible moment.
“Your support, your kind words means more than I can express .
“Doors going to be closed for a while unfortunately, but I can promise that we will come back as soon as safe to do so and of course with a brand new roof.”
