Needham Market Raft Race to make a splash today at Needham Lake

The annual Needham Market Raft Race is ready to make a splash today at Needham Lake.

This year’s theme is ‘circus’, with the event seeing teams wearing fancy dress as they race their handmade rafts across the lake.

The afternoon kicks off at 1.30pm, with time trials at 2pm – the fastest time will win the Tracey Cadman Challenge prize.

After three heats of time trials, the teams will be sorted into time order and then race against other rafts completing similar times from 3.40pm.

The grand final will start at 4pm, before prizes are handed out at around 4.15pm.

Last year’s event saw hundreds attend to the 2023 races, themed ‘kings and queens’.

The Swan, in High Street, will be hosting The R’After Party from noon, offering pizza and a barbecue from the pub’s beer garden.
