Man taken to hospital with serious injuries after A14 eastbound crash between Stowupland and Needham Market, near A140 junction
A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on a major carriageway.
Police were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A14 eastbound between Stowupland and Needham Market, near the A140 junction, at 6.42am after a pedestrian was injured.
Three ambulances, one ambulance officer and two air ambulances from Essex and Hertfordshire Air Ambulance attended the scene, and the man was transported to Addenbrookes Hospital with serious injuries.
The road was blocked both ways with National Highways implementing diversion routes for drivers.
Both vehicles involved in the crash were cars.
A police spokesperson said that whilst one lane had reopened on the westbound carriageway, long delays were still expected for a significant period.
It is advised other routes are followed.
