Plans for bungalow on land at Highfields, in All Saints Road, Creeting St Mary, rejected after road safety and footpath concerns raised
Plans for a bungalow in a village have been rejected after road safety and footpath concerns were raised.
Liam Bell’s proposals for the home on land at Highfields, in All Saints Road, Creeting St Mary, near Needham Market, were rejected by Mid Suffolk District Council on Thursday.
Planners said there was no policy support for the project, and it would be out of character with the area and detrimental to its wider landscape.
The village’s parish council objected to the plans citing similar issues, such as increased traffic access on an already dangerous bend in the road, affects on the public footpath and an overdevelopment of the site.
Suffolk County Council’s public rights of way team echoed the comments on the footpath in its objection to the plans.
Objections from 12 members of the public to the application were submitted, which raised the aforementioned issues as well as a loss of outlook and rural character, potential for increases in noise and traffic and a lack of pavement in the village.
The application would have seen a three-bedroom bungalow built to the back of two infill properties in All Saints Road.
Planners said the bungalow would be out of character with the area as it would not follow the strong pattern of linear development in the area, but instead push into the countryside.
