Plans for Hascott Hill, Barking, near Needham Market, dog walking field shelved

Plans for a dog walking field which drew concerns from a council have been shelved.

The proposals from David Bates for the enclosed exercise facility off Hascott Hill, Barking, near Needham Market, were adandoned on February 26.

A new vehicle access point would have been created at the existing entrance to the field with enough space to park and safely turn.

In a response to the plans, Battisford Parish Council said it had no comment on the application but had concerns on the access point, the number of parking spaces and access to ‘what can be a very fast part of the road’.

The highways authority gave a holding objection to the plans as it said the provided visibility splays were were not in accordance with the speed limit.

It also said the access point should be designed with a minimum entrance width of three metres.

Suffolk County Council’s public rights of way team objected to the plans as it said the proposed site obstructed a footpath.

No reason was given for the withdrawal of the application.
