Stowmarket Police launch patrols at Needham Lake following large barbecue gathering

Police have carried out patrols at a Suffolk lake following reports of anti-social behaviour and vandalism at the popular beauty spot.

Officers were made aware of a large gathering at Needham Lake where witnesses said partygoers defecated in bushes and ripped branches from trees at the barbecue area.

The incident saw large amounts of rubbish left behind at multiple overflowing bins.

This prompted Stowmarket Police to hold a community engagement stall yesterday next to the Duck and Teapot café for the public to talk with officers.

The barbecue area is a popular attraction for visiting families – however, Mid Suffolk District Council has warned that if the issues continue the facility could be removed.
