Inquests have been formally opened on two men who died in a collision in Newmarket.

Marius Gioacas, 20, had been the driver of one of the two cars involved and Paul Gale, 43, a front seat passenger in the other.

Today Suffolk Coroners Court at Ipswich heard that Mr Gioacas, of Exeter Road, Newmarket, died as a result of a severe chest injury.

Mr Gale, of no fixed address, died as a result of a neck injury. Both men were declared dead at the scene.

The collision happened on the B1103 Exning Road shortly before midnight on May 27 and involved a Renault Laguna and a VW Golf.

Assistant Suffolk coroner Dr Daniel Sharpstone formally opened the inquests and then adjourned the hearing.

A 32-year-old woman, Sadie Fuller, of Exning Road, Newmarket has been charged with two offences of causing death by dangerous driving as a result of the crash.

She is also charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, having no insurance and driving not in accordance with her licence.
