M&S has today announced it is proposing to close its Newmarket store as part of its programme to reshape its UK store estate. Thirty eight jobs will be affected and The Guineas store is one of 14 proposed for closure or set to close.
Calum Telford, head of region for East Anglia at Marks and Spencer, said: "Proposing to close M&S Newmarket has been a difficult decision. Over the coming weeks we will be speaking to all 38 colleagues about what is best for them, they will be fully supported throughout the consultation."
M&S will now close over 100 stores in total by 2022, including 21 that have already closed and the 14 stores that are announced today as proposed for closure or set to close.
