Red Lodge could see 141 new homes after developer submits new plans to West Suffolk Council

Developers have submitted plans to build a new 141-home estate in Red Lodge.

Crest Nicholson has submitted its proposals to West Suffolk Council, asking for permission to build the new estate on land east of Russet Drive, Bilberry Close, Parsley Close, and Manor Wood.

The new build will include 30 per cent ‘affordable’ housing – the legal minimum developers have to include on large builds. The affordable housing units will be placed in three blocks around the estate and are a mixture of shared ownership and rented accommodation.

Red Lodge has been earmarked as one of the main development zones in the former Forest Heath district for new homes in the recently adopted local plan.

But some neighbours have objected. Andrew Hopkins, who lives in Parsley Close, said he had concerns about parking and traffic at the new estate.

“With the extra traffic this development will generate I believe this is an accident waiting to happen,” he said.

Suffolk Highways has not yet made a submission to district planners about the proposals.
