Reward offered for return of painting of Roaring Lion stolen from owner's marquee at Tattersalls in Newmarket
The owner of a painting of Cartier Horse of the Year, Roaring Lion, which was stolen from a hospitality tent at Tattersalls in Newmarket on Tuesday is offering a reward for information leading to its safe return.
The painting was specially commissioned by Tweenhills Stud where the Eclipse Stakes winner, trained in Newmarket by John Gosden, had stood as a stallion for just one season before he died of colic after being shipped to New Zealand where he had been due to cover mares at the Cambridge Stud.
David Redvers manager for Tweenhills said: "It has been completely devastating for us losing Roaring Lion earlier this year, but to also lose the painting is extremely upsetting for all of us who loved the horse, and for the artist Tania Still who spent eight months painting it. If anyone comes across it please return it and there will be a reward for its safe return."
The painting, was taken from the Tweenhills marquee which is named the Lion’s Den in memory of the horse.
