Soham Carnival postponed because of coronavirus pandemic

Soham Carnival and Heavy Horse show has been postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Preparations for the event, which was set to be held on May 25, were well underway but organisers at the Soham Benevolent Association have decided to put off the annual carnival.

Kim Botting, association chairman, said: "We’ve had to make the decision now rather than wait as none of us know the outcome of this virus.

"We have spoken to most of our attractions, performers’ and stall holders and they have agreed to hold their contracts for now."

Mr Botting said a re-organised date had not yet been arranged.

"One thing we would still like to ask people to do, is to please sign up to Haydn’s law #wearahelmet petition as were going to be promoting that heavily at this years’ carnival.

"Haydn was looking forward to performing ‘Wake me up when September ends’ live at the carnival as music is helping his recovery from his brain injury. Please sign up to his petition."
