A district councillor and her husband appeared in court on Tuesday charged with causing thousands of pounds of damage to a Range Rover.

Carol and Christopher Sennitt, both 58, of Fordham Road, Soham, pleaded not guilty to criminal damage and will appear again at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on May 1 next year for trial.

The couple are alleged to have caused up to £5,000 of damage to Mark and Stewart Smith’s black 2015 Range Rover Sport in August this year.

Conservative Cllr Sennitt represents Soham North and won the seat in 2015. She is the service delivery champion for the council in the environmental services department.
