Mildenhall Town's new boss Ricky Cornish has appointed Colin Vowden as his assistant manager.

Cornish, who took over at Recreation Way last week from Dean Greygoose, was alone in the dugout as his tenure got under way with a 3-1 Boxing Day defeat at AFC Sudbury.

However, he will now be joined by the experience of Vowden – somebody he has known since their days as trainees at Cambridge United.

After leaving Cambridge in 1997, centre-back Vowden went on to play for Kettering Town, for whom he scored in the 2000 FA Trophy final against Kingstonian at the old Wembley.

More locally Vowden turned out for the likes of Mildenhall, Newmarket Town and Lakenheath during the latter stages of his playing career.

Fourth-from-bottom Mildenhall will return to action on Saturday when Felixstowe & Walton United will be their visitors for a Bostik League North Division clash (3pm).
