Oliver Jarvis becomes two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner after victory with United Autosports
Seven years on from his only other previous victory, seasoned campaigner Oliver Jarvis is now a two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner.
It was in 2017 that Jarvis first tasted success in the LMP2 Class at one of motorsport’s most famous races.
And the former King’s Ely School pupil repeated that feat at the weekend, coming out on top in some treacherous conditions in north west France.
Along with his United Autosports team-mates Bijoy Garg and Nolan Siegel – both of whom were making their Le Mans debuts – Jarvis finished 18 seconds clear of their nearest rivals to seal a place on top of the podium.
The 40-year-old said: “What a race. It’s my 13th Le Mans and none have been as tough – it was an insane amount of pressure.
“The track conditions were constantly changing – it was difficult for drivers, teams, spectators.
We had a really solid race, stayed out of trouble and, crucially, stayed on the lead lap. Even when we were leading, I didn’t believe we had won until halfway through my last stint.
“My co-drivers were making their Le Mans debuts and they leave as winners – amazing.”
Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO, added: “Olly guided Nolan and Bijoy through it and they didn’t put a foot wrong. I am very proud.”
