Newmarket Cricket Club launching softball sessions for women and girls

Newmarket Cricket Club is set to host a number of softball taster sessions for women and girls.

The batch of sessions, which will be overseen by ECB-qualified coaches, are due to get under way on July 23 and run for six weeks.

Players of all experiences and abilities are invited to attend, with the club hoping to one day in a position to launch a women’s team that will play matches.

Men’s first team captain Mark Nunn said: “We’ve had a number of people contact us to ask about cricket for women and girls, as well as parents of some of our juniors expressing an interest.

“It’s something that as a club we are keen to get started.”
