Newmarket Town bring James Chivers back to the club from Histon

Fresh from announcing the arrival of Histon captain Max York, Newmarket Town have secured the return of James Chivers from the same club.

The defender left the Jockeys in 2017 to link up with Histon and he has gone on to make more than 100 appearances for the Step 4 side, scoring six goals in the process.

Thirty-seven of those outings came during the 2018/19 season when the Stutes clinched the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division title.

Previously, Chivers had been a regular in the Newmarket team that finished third in the Premier Division and reached the League Challenge Cup final during the 2016/17 season.

He made 35 appearances in that particular campaign, finding the net on five occasions.

Michael Shinn's Newmarket begin their pre-season friendly schedule tomorrow with a home encounter against National League South outfit Braintree Town (3pm).
