LEARN MOREEngland's penalty shootout hero Eric Dier has heaped praise on Nick Pope for the role that he played in helping him to prepare for Tuesday night's nail-biting finale.
The Three Lions advanced through to the quarter-finals of the World Cup thanks to a 4-3 victory on penalties over Colombia, with Tottenham Hotspur's Dier striking the decisive spot kick.
And while Dier has received plenty of plaudits for keeping his cool at the crucial moment, he revealed that Wicken-raised goalkeeper Pope deserves 'all the credit'.
"Personally I've been having a little competition with Nick Pope the goalkeeper," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
"He deserves all the credit because he's the one who's helped me prepare for penalties.
"It's difficult to score penalties passed him because he's huge, he helped me a lot."
