Newmarket Town secure the services of Dave Cowley

Newmarket Town player-manager Michael Shinn has pulled off a transfer coup with the arrival of Dave Cowley.

The experienced playmaker, who has joined the Jockeys from Essex Senior League side Walthamstow, ended last season with Stowmarket Town.

He made a total of 25 appearances for the Old Gold & Blacks during 2019/20, which yielded a return of eight goals. By chance, one of those goals came in Stowmarket's 4-2 win over Newmarket in late February.

Having started out in the youth set ups at West Ham United and Southend United, Cowley has gone on to feature for a host of non-league clubs, including Harlow Town, Grays Athletic, Needham Market, Thurrock, AFC Sudbury and Ware.
