The Mildenhall Fen Tigers ran riot on Sunday afternoon against the previously unbeaten Plymouth Gladiators as they recorded a massive 61-29 victory in the National Trophy.

All seven Fen Tigers scored at least a paid win in an all-round team performance which saw them record seven maximum heat advantages. Meanwhile, for Plymouth, only Ben Wilson and Nathan Stoneman were at the races with nine and 10 respectively.

Danny Ayres threw down the gauntlet with a heat one victory in less than half a second outside the track record.

Reserves Elliot Kelly and Macauley Leek then combined for a 5-1 in heat two as they collected paid 21 between them from their afternoon’s efforts.

The engine room of Jason Edwards and Charlie Brooks were both in fine form, Edwards his usual stylish self, while Brooks after a first ride fall reeled off three heat wins including a highly impressive pillar to post victory over the charging Stoneman.

The returning Matt Marson and David Wallinger also contributed decent scores, Marson improving throughout the meeting to finish unbeaten in his last two rides and Wallinger scoring paid eight from his first three rides before coming off worse in a battle for third place with Stoneman in heat 13.

Speaking after the meeting team manager Malcolm Vasey said: “Today we managed to turn our performance in the later part of last week's meeting into a full 15-heat performance.

"Every rider was on their game and it was particularly pleasing to see our reserves scoring so well. Elliot and Macauley have both impressed me greatly with their effort and skill and should be a match for any reserve pairing in our league.

"If I have to pick a highlight it was seeing Charlie looking so impressive and smooth, he is a rider of great potential and fully deserved the chance in heat 15.
