Newmarket trainer James Ferguson seeking to follow Hugo Palmer's successful lead with move to Kremlin Cottage Stables
James Ferguson has taken the next step in his training career following confirmation that he will be taking up residence at Kremlin Cottage Stables.
The Snailwell Road-based facility has been unoccupied since Hugo Palmer moved to Cheshire’s Manor House Stables earlier this year.
Palmer enjoyed plenty of notable success at the 96-box yard, which boasts two horse walkers, lunge ring, paddocks and a salt therapy chamber.
It was from there that he guided Galileo Gold to Classic glory in the 2,000 Guineas, while also overseeing Covert Love’s ascent to victories in the Irish Oaks and the Prix de l’Opera. He also trained Galileo Gold’s first Group 1 winner from the stables when Ebro River won last year’s Keenland Phoenix Stakes.
And Ferguson, who has been training since 2019, will be hoping to enjoy similar success following his switch from Saville House Stables in Newmarket’s St Mary’s Square.
“First and foremost I would like to thank Hugo Palmer for allowing me to rent this wonderful yard,” said Ferguson.
“I have been at Saville House since I started out training and this is a very exciting move for myself and the team.
“We currently have 38 boxes at Saville House, so it is great opportunity for my horses, owners and staff to move into this yard with 96 boxes and enable us to expand. It is a beautiful yard with all the facilities you need.
“Hugo enjoyed great success from Kremlin Cottage so I can only hope we can continue the success in this new chapter of my training career.”
Ferguson, who had his breakthrough Group 1 winner in 2021 when El Bodegon landed the Criterium de Saint Cloud and has enjoyed further Group success with Mise En Scene and Deauville Legend, will start to move his string of horses in the coming days – an operation that should be completed by the end of next month.
