Newmarket Town reach agreement to sign former Bury Town and Needham Market forward Jose Santa de la Paz

Jose Santa de la Paz has agreed to become Newmarket Town’s first signing ahead of their debut campaign in the Pitching In Isthmian League North Division.

The Jockeys, who were promoted to Step 4 via the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division play-offs, have moved to bring in the forward who started the previous campaign with fellow Suffolk outfit Bury Town.

De La Paz made 13 appearances for the equivalent-level Blues – scoring two goals – before he ended the season in the Essex Senior League Premier Division with Stanway, for whom he found the net back of the net on five occasions from 17 outings.

Speaking about the addition of De La Paz, Newmarket boss Michael Shinn said: “Jose is a player that I tried to sign a year ago and now we’ve finally got him.

“He’ll bring some real pace to our team and be a major attacking threat.”

De La Paz also includes Needham Market and Brantham Athletic on his list of former clubs.
