Soham Town Rangers confirm Jonathan James has replaced Michael Firek as new club chairman
Soham Town Rangers have announced a change in chairman following yesterday’s AGM.
Jonathan James has stepped into the position that has been vacated by Michael Firek, who stepped down following his appointment in October 2023.
James said: “Under Michael’s leadership, the club has come a very long way in a short space of time. We are therefore in an excellent position to move forward and we will develop a five-year plan working with all stakeholders involved in the club.
“Our community is at the heart of all that we do and we look forward to strengthening links with local residents and businesses alike.”
Meanwhile, the outgoing Firek added: “We have made great strides in improving the player pathway at Soham Town Rangers.
“A huge amount of work has gone in to club infrastructure developments, including new LED floodlights and upgrades to the pitch and home changing room.
“We must continue to drive forwards and Jonathan is the perfect person to lead this club on to the next steps as chairman. I'll continue to support him and the committee from within as vice-chair, alongside Scott Fretwell, who continues in the role.”
On the pitch, Soham were beaten 1-0 away at Fakenham Town in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division on Saturday.
Alex Cross’ 13th-placed side will look to bounce back at the first time of asking tonight when they play host to bottom-of-the-table Lakenheath (7.45pm).
