Soham Town Rangers bolster in attack and defence with arrival of duo

Soham Town Rangers manager Alex Cross has bolstered his options at both ends of the pitch.

In attack, Cross has secured the services of Mason Newman.

The forward, who was previously part of the youth set-up at Julius Martin Lane, has agreed to join from Cambridgeshire County League Adcock Premier Division champions Great Shelford.

The former Ely City and Haverhill Rovers player was the division’s second highest scorer with 24 goals – form that helped Shelford to clinch the title by a five-point margin from second-placed Over Sports.

Speaking on the club’s X account, Cross said: “Mason is someone we have been tracking for a while and we first became aware of him through Brett Fuller, the club’s director of football.

“He has been in training with us, fitted in well with the players and brings excellent quality in the final third.”

Meanwhile, the Greens have also announced the addition of defender James Dunn.

Last term the centre-back turned out for King’s Lynn Town’s under-19 and under-23 sides.

Cross added: “Dunn is a robust, young centre-half that can also play left-back.

“He’s someone that has a great future ahead of him and we look forward to seeing him grow and develop at the football club.”
