Soham Town Rangers manager Alex Cross keen to send out entertaining side each week

Manager Alex Cross’ major target for the 2024/25 season is to send out a Soham Town Rangers side each week that supporters enjoy to watch.

Following their relegation in 2022, the Greens have found life tough upon their return to the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division with 15th and 12th-placed finishes.

However, the appointment of Cross last November brought with it some positive results – and the boss is keen to build on that ahead of Saturday’s season opener at home against Harleston Town (3pm).

“When I came in last year we wanted to beat the points tally of the previous couple of years and we did that.

“After that it was about making everyone aware of the standards that are expected and overall I was happy with what we got out of last season.

“Going forward, we want to be competitive in every game and that’s not something the club has had in recent years.

“As a club I know everyone is keen to get back to Step 4, but that’s not easy and every team in the league will have the same ambition.

“We’ll see how it goes and hopefully we can be in that conversation, but our main target is that we’re a team that the community enjoy coming to watch.

“It felt like we had started to do that last season and hopefully more people come through the gate now.”

After hosting Harleston at the weekend, Soham will head to Lakenheath on Tuesday night (7.45pm),
