Newmarket Joggers members Paul Holley and Mark Hayward produce impressive 10K performances
The temperature may have been sub-zero but that did not stop Newmarket Joggers member Paul Holley from being in trophy-winning form on Sunday.
Competing in the Run Southampton 10K, the former jockey stopped the clock in a time of 35 minutes and 26 seconds, which was enough to see him finish fifth of 718 overall runners.
And he also walked away with the M55 trophy after finishing top of a field comprising of 38 athletes.
Elsewhere, club-mate Mark Hayward was also in impressive form at the Telford 10K in Shropshire.
Hayward clocked a finishing time of 34:11, which was 24 seconds quicker than his previous 10K road race personal best.
He finished 256th of 1,073 overall and 17th of 89 in the M40 category, with the strength of the race highlighted by the fact that 33 entrants recorded times of sub 30 minutes.
Two more Joggers tackled the Milton Keynes Winter Half Marathon, in which a total of 1,322 runners took part.
First home was Sarah Last (2:35:32, 458th female of 540, 47th in F50), followed by Gillian Green (3:01:50, 519th female, 15th in F60).
Meanwhile, closer to home at the Brandon Zig Zag 6H Multi Lap event, the club’s Caroline McIntosh completed a total of three laps (10 miles) in a time of 2:23:00.
