Leading goalscorer James Hall has left Newmarket Town.

The striker joined the Jockeys in the summer from neighbouring Mildenhall Town, for whom he scored 24 goals in 26 appearances.

He continued to find the net in a Newmarket shirt initially – scoring 10 goals in 16 outings, but the last of those in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division came back on September 4.

And having been replaced at half-time during last night's 1-1 draw with March Town United, player-manager Michael Shinn has now confirmed a parting of the ways.

"I'm disappointed that it hasn't worked out but we wish him well and I hope he finds enjoyment out of the game moving forward," said Shinn.

Hall also includes the likes of Godmanchester Rovers, Cambridge City and St Neots Town among his list of former clubs.
