Newmarket Town have re-signed Casey Phillips from neighbouring Mildenhall Town.

The centre-back left the Jockeys for Mildenhall in 2019 – and was at the time manager Ricky Cornish's first signing of that summer.

Injuries have not been kind to Phillips during his stint with Mildenhall, limiting him to 36 appearances across three campaigns – two of which were badly impacted by Covid-19.

However, he will now renew acquaintances at Newmarket, having turned out 30 times for Michael Shinn's side – scoring one goal – during the 2018/19 season.

Mildenhall boss Cornish told the club's website: "We're sad to see Casey go and we'd like to thank him for his efforts.

"I really hope he can get an injury-free run. He's a good lad and I know he's keen to do well."

Phillips, who has also previously played for Haverhill Borough and Histon, could begin his second spell with the club on Monday when they travel to Lakenheath for a Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division fixture (3pm).
