INTERNATIONAL CALL-UP: Tymal Mills will join up with England for their upcoming T20 against Sri Lanka.

Tymal Mills has been included in the England squad for the Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka at Hampshire’s Ageas Bowl on July 5.

Calls for the former Mildenhall College Academy student to receive international recognition intensified earlier this month when he bowled out West Indies legend Chris Gayle during a NatWest T20 Blast encounter with a ball that clocked 93.3mph on the speed gun.

The support did not go unheard, with the selectors having now named the Sussex bowler in the 15-man selection for the first time in his career.

The 23-year-old is one of two new faces to feature, with Middlesex batsman Dawid Malan also in line to make his debut for the World Cup finalists.

“The IT20 squad has a balanced feel to it with an exciting blend of youth and experience,” said national selector James Whitaker.

“This is our first test since reaching the final of the ICC World T20 and we know the players will want to ensure that they play well and win the match.

“This is also an opportunity, if selected, for two new players to showcase their skills at this level.

“Tymal Mills has been one of the standout performers with the ball in the NatWest T20 Blast competition this season and deserves his chance.”
