Pope suffers injury

Nick Pope could face a spell on the sidelines after he was forced off during the early exchanges of Burnley's Europa League tie away at Aberdeen this evening.

The Wicken-raised goalkeeper was back in action for the Clarets after just 10 days off, having been a part of the England squad that finished fourth at this summer's World Cup.

However, the former Bury Town shot stopper lasted only 14 minutes at Pittodrie before a suspected shoulder problem meant he could play no further part in the encounter.

Pope made his Premier League breakthrough for Burnley last season, coming into the team in September to replace Tom Heaton, who himself suffered a shoulder injury.

The ex-West Suffolk College pupil went on to produce a string of impressive performances between the posts for Sean Dyche's side, which subsequently earned him a place in Gareth Southgate's Three Lions 23-man party for Russia.
