Manchester United's Premier League winner Luke Chadwick among those playing at Newmarket Town next month to raise money for Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust
Some familiar faces will be in action at Newmarket Town’s Tristel Stadium next month.
Manchester United’s Premier League winner Luke Chadwick is among those that have confirmed their availability, along with former Cambridge United players Liam Hughes, Terry Fleming and Sam Ives. Other well known locally-based players such as Darren Coe and Jamie Thurlbourne will also feature.
The match, which will be played on Saturday, July 3 (2pm), has been organised by Scott McGeorge, with all proceeds going to Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.
It will see a McGeorge XI taking on a team from Newmarket’s Racing Centre, and will include a raffle, drinks and food as well as a host of auction prizes – including Liverpool and Manchester City shirts signed by Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola respectively.
McGeorge, who works at Tattersalls, said: “My daughter is 13 now but when she was 18 months old she became very poorly and was in intensive care at Addenbrooke’s.
“Thankfully she ended up making a remarkable recovery and ever since then I’ve been keen to do something like this to raise some money for the hospital.
“It’s a great cause and it feels even more apt with what everyone has been going through this last year. This is my little way of saying thank you for their hard work.”
