Former Cambridge United academy player and ex-Waterford attacker Prince Mutswunguma joins Newmarket Town

Newmarket Town have completed the signing of Prince Mutswunguma.

The attacker has joined the Jockeys on dual registration terms from higher-league Bedford Town.

Prior to linking up with the Step 3 Eagles, the 24-year-old played professionally in the League of Ireland Premier Division with Waterford.

Earlier in his career Mutswungama was part of the academy at Sky Bet League One outfit Cambridge United for 10 years, and spells in non-league followed upon his release with the likes of St Neots Town, Haverhill Rovers, Soham Town Rangers and AFC Rushden & Diamonds before his switch across the Irish Sea.

Mutswunguma could make his Newmarket debut on Monday when the Jockeys head to Redbridge for a Pitching In Isthmian League North Division encounter.

The match may also mark a first league outing in Newmarket colours for midfielder Efraim Romanos, who made his debut during last weekend’s 3-1 victory at Wroxham in the preliminary round of the FA Cup.
