REPORTS: Pope bound for Premier League
Widespread reports have today claimed that Nick Pope is close to finalising a move to Premier League outfit Burnley.
The Wicken goalkeeper joined League One side Charlton Athletic from Bury Town in 2011, with his stint at The Valley having included numerous loan stints.
However, the 24-year-old was able to force his way into the Addicks’ first team last term, during which his performances seemingly caught the eye of Burnley boss Sean Dyche.
It is being claimed that the Clarets will pay in excess of £1m to land Pope, who will allegedly head to Lancashire in the near future for a medical and to discuss personal terms.
Should the keeper make the switch to Turf Moor, he will join goalkeeping ranks that already include England’s Tom Heaton.
Pope is the younger brother of current Mildenhall Town shot-stopper Josh.
