Hayden makes swift Ely exit

Matt Hayden has opted to leave Ely City after making just one appearance.

The striker completed his move to the Ellgia Stadium from Lakenheath last week and was in the starting line-up for Saturday's 5-2 home defeat at the hands of Whitton United.

However, after that encounter Hayden informed manager Brady Stone that the travel involved meant he could not commit to the club.

Meanwhile, Lakenheath boss Ben Cowling said of Hayden's departure: "Matt done well for us.

"He came back in during the summer and showed a good attitude from the start.

"He helped me out a lot and we wish him the best for the future."
