Time is right for Ely City manager Brady Stone to move on

Brady Stone believes that the time is right for him to step down as manager of Ely City.

It was announced last night that Stone and his assistant Martin Grey will relinquish their roles after the Robins' Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division home clash with Haverhill Rovers on December 27.

Stone took on the job back in 2014 and has enjoyed plenty of success along the way, but he feels now a fresh face is needed to take the club forward.

"We thought about stepping down in the summer but we managed to put a good side together and made some good signings," said Stone, who along with Grey will remain on the board at Ely.

"I really believed in the squad but then we lost players to injuries, others left and I do not think we have it in us to rebuild again.

"There is still a good basis there but it is the right time for us to move aside and let someone who is fresh with some big ideas take over.

"I have loved every minute of it and I am so proud of what we have been able to achieve."
