Tuttle crowned the champion
After a wait of 13 years, Marcella Tuttle got her hands on The Links Ladies’ Club Championship title for a second time.
It was a tough battle for Tuttle, though, as she won the overall best gross score Scratch Salver in an exciting sudden death play-off against Yada Adams.
Both players had a gross score of 164, with Tuttle stealing the main prize thanks to a birdie on the first play-off hole.
“I am delighted to have won the Ladies’ Club Championship for the second time after a 13-year wait.
“Thankfully the afternoon round was a great improvement on the morning and I was pleased to make the play-off.
“The result could have gone either way but to secure victory it took two career shots to reach the green on the par 5 first play off hole.
“The heat added to the intensity of the occasion and in the end we were all pleased to retire to the bar for a much needed drink.”
At the same event, Carol Wigham was awarded the overall best nett Paula Ewing Trophy after two impressive nett 66 rounds, while Jayne Sant-Brown clinched the Senior Club Champion Veterans’ Trophy with a gross 87.
Best senior nett, meanwhile, went to Pauline Bond with a return of 67.
