Mildenhall Town title winners Tanner Call and Alex Steed leave ahead of Isthmian League North Division campaign

Two members of last season’s Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division title-winning squad have left Mildenhall Town.

Striker Tanner Call and midfielder Alex Steed are the players in question – meaning that neither will turn out for the club following their promotion to Step 4.

Ex Bury Town-frontman Call has opted to pursue other interests outside of football.

The forward joined Mildenhall in the summer of 2020 and went on to score 68 goals in 139 appearances – including 12 during last season’s success.

Manager Phil Weavers said: “Tanner wants to pursue challenges in other areas of his life and I think in doing that he was going to find it hard to commit to football every week.

“The door is certainly not closed on Tanner and if circumstances change I’d love to see him in a Mildenhall Town shirt again.”

Midfielder Steed, meanwhile, has decided to hang up his boots. The former Walsham-le-Willows and Thetford Town player spent a total of 10 seasons at Mildenhall across two spells.

Weavers, who confirmed the arrival of four new players earlier today, added: “Steedy has gone out on a high after last season’s achievements.

“He’ll be sorely missed because he’s been a fantastic servant for the club on and off the pitch.

“He leaves with my upmost respect, as does Tanner – we wish them both well.”
