CKLG Accountants agree to sponsor Newmarket Hockey Club's shirt for East League seasons
After a difficult start to the 2018/19 East Men’s League Division 3NE campaign, Newmarket’s first team have now put back-to-back victories on the board.
A 7-3 win over Lowestoft Railway I generated the momentum, which was duly built on at the weekend as the team won 3-1 at neighbouring Bury St Edmunds II.
It was a result that moved Newmarket up two places in the standings to 10th with a return of 10 points from their 11 outings to date.
They will go in search of a third straight triumph on Saturday when they head to North Norfolk I (2.30pm).
The Cromer-based side have made a positive start to the season and currently sit in third place.
* After five straight East Women’s League Division 2NW defeats, Newmarket I tasted victory as they beat St Ives I at home on Saturday.
It was not enough to lift them off the bottom of the table, but they are now level on points with the two teams above them.
On Saturday they play host to fourth-from-bottom St Ives II (1.30pm).
* All of the Newmarket teams this season are wearing kits sponsored by local company CKLG Accountants.
CKLG, who are based just outside Newmarket in Stow-cum-Quy, will have their name and logo on the team’s shirts over the coming months.
Newmarket chairman Alex Andreou said: “I am really pleased to announce our new sponsor for the 2018/2019 season is CKLG Accountants.
“They will be sponsoring all our shirts for the forthcoming year.
“We have had a great partnership with CKLG over the last year and their support allows us to continue to invest in hockey in Newmarket.”
Two of the organisation’s employees – Sarah Haird and Stef Heslop – play hockey for Newmarket, while Nicola Valentine is a member of Cambridge City Hockey Club.
Sarah Haird added: “Being able to play a sport I love and share my passion with my colleagues is great, and I am very proud that our firm are sponsoring Newmarket Hockey Club and actively supporting the work-life balance that we all crave.”
