Soham man Joe Ewing jailed for more than three years for dealing Class A drugs

A 24-year-old man has been jailed for more than three years after cannabis and cash were seized during a search of his home.

Police arrested Joe Ewing at his home, in Kingfisher Drive, Soham, in the early hours of March 11, after he was identified as being the holder of a county line supplying crack cocaine and heroin.

He is the latest county lines drug dealer to be targeted as part of an operation to tackle drug dealing and human trafficking in Cambridgeshire.

During a search of Ewing’s home, officers found and seized £415 of cannabis, more than £1,500 in cash, a machete and a knife.

They also discovered a phone with messages linking him to drug dealing between November and March.

At Peterborough Crown Court on June 4, Ewing was sentenced to three years and six months in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, possession of cannabis, possession of criminal property and breaching a suspended sentence order.

Detective Constable Alex Galan-Tarachiu, who investigated, said: “Less than a year after receiving a suspended sentence for drug dealing, Ewing has found himself back before the courts and now with a substantial prison sentence.

“The message is simple, drug dealing is not welcome in Cambridgeshire.

“It brings misery and violence to our communities and targets vulnerable people and those responsible will be arrested and put before the courts.”
