Brook Farm Road, Saxmundham, near Southwold, ‘serious’ house fire sees fire crews attend and man left experiencing breathing difficulties




Fire crews attended a ‘serious’ house fire in a Suffolk town in the early hours which left an individual experiencing breathing difficulties.

Two engines attended the blaze in Brook Farm Road, Saxmundham, near Southwold, at around 5.30am.

It was in a detached house, with the fire in the living room.

Firefighters used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, and a male casualty was reported as suffering from the effects of breathing in smoke.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “We were called at 5.54am with reports of a person experiencing breathing difficulties in Brook Farm Road, Saxmundham.

“We sent one ambulance and assessed two patients at the scene.”

The incident was dealt with by 6.24am.
